First Stage: Advanced Protection and Efficiency
Auto Closure Device (ACD)
The first stage features an Auto Closure Device (ACD) that keeps the inlet shut when not connected to a cylinder valve. This innovative design preserves internal lubrication, keeps the inlet filter clean and dry, and enhances safety for elevated percentages of oxygen.
Exceptional Cold-Water Performance
Aqualung's three anti-freeze properties modernize the cold-water performance of the LEG3ND. The integrated dry chamber isolates inner components from the environment, preventing ice formation. Deep ribs create a large heat exchange surface area (+30% vs Glacia / +70% vs Legend 2), and the new overmolded cap delays ice forming over the external diaphragm.
Auto-Balanced Mechanism
The Auto-Balanced (Over-Balanced) mechanism progressively increases the working pressure with depth, maintaining optimum breathing efforts. Ergonomically shaped DIN and YOKE screws with a bi-material “Soft Grip” surface ensure a better hold, while channeled YOKE screws prevent water retention.
Second Stage: Enhanced Breathing Comfort
Optimized Airflow and Purging
The second stage features new front cover opening channels that allow water to flow sideways over the diaphragm, preventing freeflows in strong currents. The overmolded exhaust cover with a “soft touch” effect and a wide surface area makes regulator purging easier and more efficient.
Comfort and Durability
The patented Comfobite mouthpiece reduces jaw fatigue and secures the second stage comfortably. The detachable and reusable mouthpiece clamp allows for quick and tool-free mouthpiece changes. The enlarged heat exchanger prevents freezing of the second stage mechanism, ensuring reliable performance in cold waters.
Streamlined Design
The air channel deflector directs airflow evenly during inhalation, and the bi-material deflector lowers exhalation effort. The flexible and lightweight Aqua Flex hose with dual protectors adds to the overall comfort and durability of the regulator set.
