Similar in design to the earlier RED KOMODO housing, the Komodo-X provides the same N120 port system found in Nauticam DSLR and Cinema systems, allowing for smooth interaction with DSLR lenses. Lens changes can be completed in a matter of seconds, and changing batteries can be done without ever taking the camera out of its casing.

It is simple to switch from existing N120 Nauticam systems to the Nauticam Komodo-X housing since it employs the same N120 Cinema port system as the company's other N120 platform cameras. Additionally, Nauticam's professional premium optics range, which includes the WACP-1/WACP-2 and SMC-1/SMC-2, is accessible through the N120 Port system.

Moreover, the housing has movable handles that make it simple to reach the focus and zoom knobs in the form of a movie theater. A 1/4"-20 cheese plate that provides for a wide range of accessory mounting points is located on top of the housing.

Nauticam's 2-year warranty is also applicable to the Nauticam KOMODO-X.

Key Features:

Patented Port Locking System

The signature port locking system fron Nauticam securely mounts the port to the housing using the lever without any twisting or threading action. Nauticam also offers various locking port extensions for diffent lenses and the dome will never twist even with long extension rings. The housing supports both RF and EF mount lenses with the N120 Port System.

Zoom & Focus Control Knob

The Nauticam Komodo Housing features a large mechanical zoom and focus knob for easier control. In addition, it has an erasable surfaces for position marks. The internal gearing is moved away quickly via a small external lever to allow removal of the camera or lens without disruption of focus/zoom gear alignment.

Tripod & Skid Mounting Points

Mounting points can easily be changed from Skids to Tripod with the 4 integrated attachment points for ball mounts for flexibility

Cinema Accessories

The trim weights included can be moved independently along the length of the skids and additional mounting points are featured on the housing itself to trim the housing to the shooter's exact needs.

Easy Battery Replacement

The housing can support 2 Canon BP style batteries inside the housing, and replacing the batteries is very easy. No need to remove the camera off the housing.

Monitor Backing Option

The housing supports 2 backing options, standard and Shinobi Monitor Back. The Atomos Shinobi SDI Monitor can be mounted at the back of the housing for a streamline setup.

Another convenience offered by the Nauticam Komodo-X housing is the ability to swap media and batteries without removing the camera from the housing. This feature ensures that you never miss a shot due to battery or storage limitations. Additionally, the housing is equipped with adjustable handles that provide easy access to cinema-style zoom and focus knobs, allowing for precise control over your shots.

Seamless Lens Support

For added peace of mind, the RED KOMODO-X comes with a lockable RF mount and is compatible with RED RF-PL adaptors. Both the Canon EF to EOS R adaptor and the Canon EF to EOS R adaptor with Variable ND Filter are fully supported by the Nauticam KOMODO-X housing. A conveniently located command wheel for seamless ND changes is located on the left side of the housing. Choosing an EF or RF lens does not affect the ease of speed or convenience of lens changing; no tools are needed. Keep in mind that the camera needs to be taken out of the housing in order to install or remove the RF to EF adapter when switching between RF and EF lenses. Nauticam is continuously evaluating new lenses in order to offer combinations of ports and extensions that are optimal. When used with the matching lens gear set, the large cinema-style control wheels on the housing—which are conveniently situated near the handles—offer accurate manual focus and zoom control with compatible lenses.

Cinema systems require the ability to use lenses other than DSLRs, and the Nauticam KOMODO-X housing can allow the usage of Cinema Lenses and the corresponding N200 Port System when combined with the 16410 N120 to N200 Port Adapter. Lens swapping in the field is made smooth even when switching between DSLR and Cinema lenses thanks to the quick, simple, and tool-free installation process.

Enhanced Monitoring Options

For monitoring your shots underwater, the Nauticam Komodo-X housing offers multiple options. You can utilize the built-in monitor of the Komodo camera for a streamlined solution. Alternatively, you can opt for the Nauticam housing that supports the Atomos Shinobi SDI monitor, which can be mounted in the rear of the housing. This external monitor provides a larger and more detailed display for precise composition and focus.

To enable the use of an external monitor, the Nauticam housing features the necessary SDI output capabilities. By using the recommended SDI cable system, which includes the M16 SDI Bulkhead and SDI cables in various lengths, photographers can connect their preferred SDI-supported monitor housing from Nauticam. This flexibility allows for a customized setup based on individual preferences and shooting requirements.

More freedom in positioning the monitor on the Nauticam Komodo housing is possible with the Atomos Shinobi SDI or Ninja V monitor, which may also be put in the exterior Nauticam NA-Shinobi-S or Nauticam Atomos Ninja V-S housing. These mounting options are made possible by SDI bulkheads and cables.

Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System

To ensure the safety and water-tightness of the housing, the Nauticam Komodo-X is equipped with Nauticam's patented Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System. This system allows photographers to check the integrity of the housing before entering the water and provides constant updates on its status throughout the dive.

By using a manual hand pump, photographers can create a slight vacuum inside the housing, ensuring that it is properly sealed. The color-coded LED lighting system at the rear of the housing indicates the vacuum status, providing peace of mind during underwater shoots. If any water intrusion occurs, the system triggers an audible and visual alert, allowing for immediate action to prevent any damage to the camera or equipment.

Ethernet Remote Control

The Nauticam KOMODO housing enables an ethernet surface feed in lengths of 5 meters (pole cam) and 45 meters (studio), but it is also designed to provide the operator complete control. There is room within the enclosure for a small Ethernet router, which would provide complete control of the surface camera via the RedControl App.
