Why We Love This Strobe

Multiple staff have dived (and own) this strobe. The strobe is powerful, easy to control, and recycles very quickly. It has a built-in video light, which makes the setup so much easier to travel with, charge, and mount on your underwater rig. No more carrying video lights and strobes seperately! Introducing the Symbiosis System

This complete Underwater Lighting System (patent pending) is designed by iDiveSite (previously known as iTorch) for underwater photography and videography. It offers a user upgradable LED head and battery pack.

Symbiosis is defined as an interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both. Likewise the Symbiosis system is a video and strobe in one body, and they can work separately or together. Additionally, you can always have an up-to-date video light, as the LED head is user upgradeable and can be used as a stand alone video light.

We think the Symbiosis SS-2R is a great, high-quality all-around strobe. It's excellent for both close-focus wide angle, macro, and traditional wide angle. One SS-2R strobe has enough power for many lighting situations, two is perfect for very wide scenes and creative or even lighting. If macro photography is your passion amd you aren't very interested in shooting wide-angle, the Symbiosis SS3 strobe is an excellent tool for macro.

Symbiosis SS-2R Features:

• Easy mounting for any underwater housing. The SS-2R strobe includes both a YS mount and a 1" ball mount allowing you to mount on both flex arms and standard ball and clamp arms. Keep in mind the strobe may be too heavy for most flex arm systems, so we recommend using ball and clamp arms.
• Universal Fiber Optic Cable Mount. The SS-2R uses the Sea & Sea style plug in fiber optic cable which is fairly universal across most housing brands.
• Intuitive TTL Training Mode. Never worry if the strobe will match the camera flash again. The SS-2R includes a TTL Training Mode which learns the output of your camera flash and allows you quickly sync the strobe and your camera regardless of how the camera pre-flashes.
• Long Battery Life. The Symbiosis SS-2R includes a high capacity battery which allows for up to 550 flashes or 100 minutes burn time with the video light on full power. When using a mix of strobe and video light the total life will be a combination of the two.
• Quick to Recycle; never wait long for your next shot. With a recycle time of 2 seconds from full dump, the SS-2R is a fast recycling strobe allowing you to keep shooting and never miss the action.
